Captain Kidd! Yarrrr, the infamous pirate! Claimed to have letters of marquis as a privateer throughout, and in fact did at least some of the time, so may have had a point. But however you count it, he was quite the merciless son of a bitch - certainly by the standards of his day - on the contested voyage which got him hanged. Live, I like to sing about how his voyages made him rich, because on and off, they did! Until the end. Muah ha ha!
